I never realized you could make good home made tacos (without the salt-laden seasoning packet) until I tried this recipe. This has to be the best taco recipe out there!
Ingredients
| 1 | tbsp vegetable oil |
| 1 | onion, minced |
| 3 | garlic cloves, minced |
| 2 | tbsp chili powder |
| 1 | tsp cumin |
| 1 | tsp coriander |
| 1/2 | tsp oregano |
| 1/4 | tsp cayenne pepper |
| 1 | tsp salt |
| 1 | pound lean ground beef |
| 1/2 | cup tomato sauce |
| 1/2 | cup water |
| 2 | tsp cider vinegar |
| 1 | tsp brown sugar |
| 8 | flour tortillas |
| 1/2 | head lettuce |
| 1/2 | pound cheddar cheese |
| 1/4 | cup sour cream |
| 1/4 | cup salsa |
| 6 | ounces olives |
- Heat the oil in a medium skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic, spices, and 1 teaspoon salt and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
 - Stir in the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Stir in the tomato sauce, broth, vinegar, and sugar adn simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes. Season with salt to taste.
 - Divide the filling evenly among the taco shells and serve, passing any desired accompaniments separtely.
